Why is it that Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos have no money but Japan and Thailand do

Why is it that Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos have no money but Japan and Thailand do?
I live in Thailand now and the wealth is everywhere. The new airport is nothing short of spectacular. Thousands of billions of dollars. Why are some countries in SE Asia super rich while others are very poor? I can see that plain stupidity and ignorance from the population could be a cause, but is it only because of that?

It's called a history of corrupt, incompetent governments.
2 :
I don't know for Japan, but for Thailand it must be because they are better to cheat other countries. They want and like other countries to see them as poor. But they have money enough. Just look the cars in Bangkok.......tons of Mercedes, Bmw, Lexus

I believe it has a lot to do with freedom, property right and free enterprise (rich) as well as communism and dictatorship (poor). In communism, there is no need to try hard because you will be treated and fed the same with the other guys. The dictator or his people can simply take things and money from you.

People still dying in Myanmar, Children are starving, what should be done

People still dying in Myanmar, Children are starving, what should be done?
My friends from Myanmar tell me how bad the situation is there. Desperate people with no food, no place to live and no where to go. Children literally dying, bodies are everywhere still floating in the water. Should the UN come in and take care of the people? http://picasaweb.google.com/cbthang/Nargis?authkey=kJZckA4Vzq0 WARNING: the pictures in this link are very explicit, if you cannot stand looking at dead bodies don't open it.

We should have just dropped the food where it was needed regardless of thier gov't. They didnt want people on the grnd so just drop the food where people were and fly away and get some more.
2 :
Yes i think they should. It is soooo dumb that the place is not letting all the other countries help them. Everyone needs help once and a while. It would prevent more people from dying if they let the U.N. and all the places get involve. I dont really understand why hey are so resistant.
3 :
They opened the country up to any one or any country that wants to help. By them waiting this long it cost many lives.
4 :
Key word here: "Should". The U.N. should have sent a peacekeeping force to Myanmar to allow delivery be distribuited and make sure the Junta sh*theads don't interfere. Too little, too late now. The Junta simply let the cyclone do the dirty job for them.
5 :
Can't count on the UN for anything...unless it's voting on something that will affect the US adversely. I count on the Red Cross more than the UN. BTW, how come the US is not getting any positive publicity? They could've turned their fleet of ships and planes around once they were rebuffed. But they're still sitting, waiting to be utilized. Where's the uproar for the US trying to help another countries citizens live under a brutal regime? Wasn't there a little over Iraq?
6 :
Have you been reading the news. Their goverment is blocking aid and being selective. And whatever aid is allowed in, the goverment takes it for them and it's troops.

What is the race of Pyay (Prome) in ancient Myanmar

What is the race of Pyay (Prome) in ancient Myanmar?
I read annals of Myanmar in Tabinshwehti, Bayinnaung and Nanda Bayin reign (about 500 years ago). The race of the king of Prome is Bamar or Shan. Also Prome had been the frontier of Shan. I know the race of its King already, so now I want to know the race of its people. Please tell me the race of people who lived the Prome, 500 ago. Shan? Bamar? or Mon?

LOL Canada? Denmark? Switzerland? You're so full of dogsh*t it's utterly ridiculous. They don't have even HALF of the problems we have. Personally I'd rather live in Sweden. Or I would join my friends that have already fled the country and moved to Canada. Either one is fine.
2 :
hmm thats a toughy. I hear Burma is nice. lol
3 :
Right.
4 :
Ha ha just look at the list. I was gonna say right-wing anyway but just look at the list. It just proves communism/socialism doesn't work. The capitalist countries of that list are some of the world's most advanced countries and the socialist ones are some of the world's most backward.
5 :
I want to live where the Constitution is upheld.
6 :
I'd love to live in Singapore
7 :
I'd obviously prefer the right, but there are left countries that aren't doing too bad in scandinavia.
8 :
Canada is right wing? Substitute it with Iran, and it makes more sense.
9 :
You do go to extremes.Adolph Hitler would choose Turkmenistan then.
10 :
Clearly your source completely ignored the real most Right wing countries. All of these countries have no taxes or regulations on business. In order these are the countries with the least government. Zimbabwe on your list does not have a government. How can it be Left wing? 1Somalia10 2Haiti9.8 3Dominican Republic9.6 4Cote d'Ivoire9.5 5Yemen9.3 6Sierra Leone9.1 7Dem. Rep. of the Congo9 8Chad9 9Burundi9 10Iraq8.9 11Sudan8.7 12Zimbabwe8.5 13Uganda8.4 14Liberia8.2 15Bangladesh8.2 16Venezuela8.2 17Afghanistan8.1 18Central African Republic8 19Burma/Myanmar8 20Equatorial Guinea8 21Tanzania7.8 22Guinea7.5 23Kenya7.4 24Bosnia and Herzegovina6 25Ethiopia5.5 26Rwanda5 27Uzbekistan5 28Bhutan5 29Syria5 30Guatemala5 31Colombia4.2 32Laos2.5 http://www.fundforpeace.org/web/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=103&Itemid=325 I will not bother with debunking the rest of your list. None of those countries. How about Norway the country with the highest standard of living in the world or Germany. All of those countries suck right now. Merry Christmas RRR
11 :
Hey, Im actually with you on this one. Lets model ourselves after the far right countries like Canada and Denmark. MOST of the "right wing" countries that you named have GOVERNMENT run Healthcare! Or single payer! So yeah, lets go the way of these other economic right wing countries.
12 :
How about the most moderate? How about a country that runs itself on practicality, and not trying to fit one ideology or the other?
13 :
I would rater live in a left wing country, namely Denmark, and luckily i already live here. You should really get your facts right, Denmark and the other Scandinavian countries are widely regarded as the most socialist countries on the planet.
14 :
I'd rather live in Finland or Singapore if you ask me. Two of the least corrupt countries.
