Can captive birds of an extinct species (in this case the Malay Green Peafowl) be introduced

Can captive birds of an extinct species (in this case the Malay Green Peafowl) be introduced?
IMPORTANT NOTE: Some recently collected preliminary data suggests that there are several species of Green Peafowl, not the three subspecies currently recognized (Blackwood et al.). This data has not been published yet. See http://kickingthorn.com/v-web/gallery/DragonBird for more info A few years ago, the World Pheasant Association introduced Green Peafowl into Malaysia, where it was extinct, and claimed that the Javanese Peafowl was the one that actually existed there when the stock was from Burma. Though the Burmese or Arakan species Pavo spicifer did indeed live in Malaysia, it was not endemic to the region. Another form, totally extinct, was. This form, known as the Malay Pahang, was a beautiful bird, with a tall crest, golden neck, and rose back. This bird diverged from spicifer and was once described as a jewel. This bird is completely extinct in the wild, but still exists in captivity. Could a species totally extinct like this beauty in the wild return?

Perhaps a mutation.

Given the advances in bio technology, and with cloning (in which DNA is inserted into a donor egg), I imagine that some scientist could possibly take DNA from some taxidermied specimen and implant a more common strain of peacock with the ovum carrying a cloned individual of the extinct species. With enough cloned individuals of differing ancestry, yes, the population could be brought back. If...

If the bird still exists in captivity, then it can be re-introduced to the wild. As zookeeper, I have worked with the Przewalski's horse. It was extinct in the wild for many years, but has been re-introduced to it's native Mongolia, and is so far doing well. In order to be successful, scientists would have to determine what destroyed the original population and take steps to protect the introduced bird from that threat. Once there is a large enough captive population, some birds could be released back into their original habitat. With protection, monitoring, and further releases to improve genetic diversity, it is possible to restore a species to the wild.

i would like to challenge u, my friend. i would really like to know, is ur god a dormant god or an active god? is he a domant god who can prove his power like the God and Father of Jesus Christ? or do u serve a god who u fear but dont benefit out of it. if he is powerful, he will show u that he loves u n prove himself by doing works to help u by healing those u know who r unwell or by protecting u wherever u go coz he loves u. be at peace, my friend. i am not saying u r condemned. no, i am just helping u a person whom i love as my fellow human being coz u r created in the very image as me and in the very image as my God, so says the bible. do not hate me for loving u my friend coz i was just commanded to do so by Jesus in the gospels. about giving u directions n helping u get a job, i dont know the exact place or job but i know someone who may. his name is Jesus and he loves u no matter wat religion u may be in. His Father, my God, promises to you in Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." just trust in Him n do not fear. He loves you. peace. trust me, my God, the Father of Jesus exists because He proved Himself to me when prayed to Him wen i was tempted to commit suicide. and i desire not even 1 human being may be saved n not die without knowing Him coz i love u all n dont desire any1 who doesnt believe in His Son to be destroyed in His terrible wrath after death.

Should the USA be more like the world

Should the USA be more like the world?
Look at China...thousands of kids died because of shoddy construction practices because of widespread corruption! Look at Burma, not Myanmar...the food being contributed is being resold on the world market to enrich the elites! Look at the Arab world...Some are awash in our oil money yet the Palestinians live in squalor! ...CHG...

The US is a PART of the world. Interesting that you don't mention any developed nations... Japan, Germany, Finland, Australia, Canada...
2 :
that could very well be Obama's thinking to change this country into a third world country not realizing that this country is the glue that holds the rest of the world together, this fool should not be elected////
3 :
I agree with above, the good ol' USA is part of this world. We are unique because we celebrate the greatest freedom in the world. That is why we should do our best not to make them like us, but to help. Countries like china, burma, are their own countries. We may not always agree with them, but that the beauty of the world.
4 :
The USA is getting a makeover and if the loss of big paying middle class jobs is not effecting you then you are very lucky. yes, we are sliding to a lower rung in our history with the economy falling like a lead ballon, poor support of a unpopular war..waste of billions of dollars..postage going up a penny..gas going up to be five bucks by summer, racial tensions going to get worse this November...immigratin out of control..we are no immune from a depression and already in a recession..I think with all this we are still the greatest country in the world but we all have to do better just to keep the status quo...maybe its time for the current generation to experience "hard times" to appreciate what we know take for granted...
5 :
Should be more like Canada
6 :
and the US is differant????
7 :
change yes we can . OBAMA 2008
8 :
Ummm, nnnoo, don't think THAT'S a good idea, shouldn't the World become more like the U.S.? You know ... freedom ...liberty... all that stuff.
9 :
HECK NO! Jesus told America to be ***IN*** the world but not ***OF*** the world.
10 :
ARE YOU KIDDING? No way. We have set a standard which the rest of the world should strive . We are leaders in the world in so many ways. There are those, both here and abroad, that resent it and would have us lower our standards in things such as charitable giving, humanitarian support and protecting those that need protection against outside and internal forces that mean harm to innocent people. We have something to be proud of, not apologetic. Leaders set the pace, not back up so others can 'feel' good about themselves.
11 :
The rest of the world should be working to become more like the United States, the greatest and freest nation on earth in spite of the efforts of the left. Unfortunately, totalitarian regimes such as those in Burma, N. Korea, Vietnam and throughout most of Africa make freedom and capitalism impossible. Therefore, billions live in poverty and want. Yet so virulent is the hatred of the democratic party and the rest of the marxist left for the United States that they want the US to become more like these failed, third world cesspools. Amazing.

Why does the US gov't help other countries but not our own citizens

Why does the US gov't help other countries but not our own citizens?
for example, we send millions of dollars of relief to countries like myanmar, but there are still victims of hurricane katrina living in fema trailers

There is no money is helping our own. Ever see the movie Catch 22? Well, we're getting bombed.
2 :
Because the US government must maintain its "colonies" around the world in order access the resources.
3 :
The entire premise of your question is wrong. 93% of US tax dollars stays in America to help American citizens.
4 :
Welcome to America :)
5 :
Yes, they are living in FEMA trailers. So the government is helping its own citizens. Who do you think provided the trailers? OUR GOVERNMENT.
