Do you sometimes feel like you are living in a foreign country such as Bangladesh instead of being in Malaysia

Do you sometimes feel like you are living in a foreign country such as Bangladesh instead of being in Malaysia?
Or...Vietnam, Myanmar, Nepal? Our local wet market here seems to belong to Vietnam? This is just a ''fun'' question so please do not give me any racist remarks, thanks~ >>eagerbeaver....I mean my local wet market, not all wet markets... >>Veritas, I certainly agree with you.

like it or not the whole world is slowly merging together (mainly due to greedy bosses wanting cheap labour) west malaysia has cheap labour from vietnam, burma etc east malaysia has indonesians, filipinos etc america has mexicans, indians etc uk has polish, bangladeshis etc so to answer your question, yes, when I'm in west malaysia I feel like I could be in any part of south east asia...!

Not those places, maybe places like Australia or America because they have all the ingredients in my cookbook that is sooooo hard to find here. In fact, they even have it fresh from the garden! Although, I would definitely miss Malaysia if i do. Oh well........

Not all our wet market are overwhelm with foreigners so I don't thing what you said is apt. If you visit ethnic enclaves anywhere you are bound to feel that way.

That's about the same complaint they have in Sydney, Vancouver, London, Paris, Nice, Athens, Rome ... All the 3rd world citizens are trending up, Malaysians too are doing the same. It is spelling the end of national identities for many countries.

Can a person teach English even if she always misspells English words

Can a person teach English even if she always misspells English words?
Can you teach even if you cannot spell right?I have a teacher in English who can speak the language well but always misspells words.Does she have the right to teach a language which you cannot spell right? She is from Myanmar and I think she is not a real teacher but only a person who for sometime lived in an English speaking country.I think she has to quit. What do you think?

well i believe that spelling is quite an important part of english. so yes, she should quit.
2 :
contact the administration of the school. failing that, appeal to a higher power in your state (assuming you're in the us, i don't know about any other countries)
3 :
yes she should. i am a professional writer and my speelings are not too hot either. but i have no right to teach! when it comes to work there is auto correct in word, and proof-reading services, but not in a classroom.
4 :
Spelling is a very important part of English, it is just as important as grammar. I don't see how she could qualify as an English teacher if she cannot spell correctly.

Will there ever be a democracy in Myanmar

Will there ever be a democracy in Myanmar?
Previously I lived in a Thai province that is close to Myanmar- Chiang Rai. Occasionally, I would have to go to a border town called: Mai Sai, to take care of my visa. While waiting for my visa I would shop in Myanmar, just beyond the border. At the time I was well aware of the situation in Myanmar, luckily there was no violence in the area I was shopping in. It is a shame what is going on over there. The millitary is so damn defiant of outside influence that I am starting to believe its going to be a long while before we see a democracy in that country. Perhaps some of the soldiers within the Junta will rebel and turn on it? This could be probable. Otherwise, it may escalate into what happened in Cambodia, sadly. The Burmese are great people, its a shame they have to go through this. They have been through enough already. I hope something positive happens soon. What do you think? It would be interesting to hear from some Burmese people.

I am a Burmese myself and I sure hope the country becomes democratic. The latest request from the Generals to Suu Kyi to stop her support for sanctions is an indication that the latest sanctions is going to hit them hard. A non-military solution to end this brutal regime is by using a similar punishment that they imposed on the people. They raised the fuel prices too suddenly that people had to take drastic actions like protesting on the streets. By using a similar method like imposing many harsh sanctions on them at once will give them little time to adjust and make drastic decisions like negotiation constructively. Adding more sanctions slowly like in the past allows them time to adjust by finding other ways to do business with China and India.
