Why don't we help the most needy

Why don't we help the most needy?
Why does the west spend so much money and attention on poverty in Africa when the facts are not in their favor? There is 900 million Indians living below the poverty line, 300 million Chinese also, not to mention other Asian countries like Afghanistan, Myanmar etc. Compare that with Africa which has 400 million people living below the poverty line. Now i understand Africa is a continent and not a country, but lets take that into consideration. If Africa was to be a country it would have the 18th largest economy. More reason not to be entirely focused on that place. Am not trying to be racist or anything, i do appreciate that Africa does need help and we should do what we can but since Asia has more poor people (hell we have half the worlds population here) then why is it that so much attention and money spent on Africa instead of Asia?

Why don't you help them yourself? Why don't you help me? I could use your money.

I think we should take of ourselves first then others. But the real answer to your question is the all powerfull POLITICS! If we took care of ourselves first then we would be stronger to go out and help others. That may sound self centered but then I am not starting and fighting wars. I don't really understand why the fighting and killing is necessary anyway. And yes I do live in fantasy land!
3 :
There's your answer, go out and do your part. go where you can do the most good. We all have specials things we are to do while we are on this earth. Ive adopted from India, I'M doing foster care now.If we all did our part this would be a better world to live in. Life is allot better when you can give of yourself. People have to help people. We need to keep our government out of it. We can do more good with people like you who really sees the needs of others! Good luck!

A question for other Chinese, I feel like I'm living with Barbarians

A question for other Chinese, I feel like I'm living with Barbarians?
So I moved to a new suburb called Cabramatta in Sydney, I feel like walking through Hanoi when I walk down the street, it is over 90% South East Asians, with mostly Vietnamese, Cambodia and Lao people. And some from Burma and Thailand. I am in fact sharing a house with a Vietnamese woman whose a single mom with a kid, she and her friends do absolutely NOTHING, they just stay home and watch Chinese drama translated in their language almost 24 hours a day. Whatever money they have they spend and live happily in ignorance, they have no concept of hard work and saving up for the long-term. They don't take their kid out for sport or sunshine but just let them play iphone 24 hours a day and drink coca-cola before bed. I feel my energy is completely drained when I'm around them. Every other non-Chinese Asian I've met in this suburb is the same, whatever money they make from running an Asian restaurant they blew it on gambling, none of them dream of making big investments and grand ambitions. The ones that have Chinese blood fair better, they take more risks like investing in land development and running successful import/export businesses in the suburb. I can't help but feel like I'm a superior to these Barbarians when I walk down the street. Am I being racist here? I have a strong urge to breed out these Barbarians everytime I walk down the street so they can become more civilised like a typical Chinese family where they will focus on education, mathematics, playing piano and have some ambitions in their life. I feel so sorry for their kid whenever I see them. Am I being racist here or do other Chinese feel the same when they travel to these Barbarian countries?

hahahahahaha, are you even chinese?

You know when I travel to the rural areas in China this seems the norm. People just sit in their homes or go play mahjong all day long or they sit in their little pokely hole cornershop. Worse still the ones near Macau often go and visit the casinos for hours or hours on end its funny going on a tour in Macau with a Chinese party as soon as they get to the casino at least 10% disappear. But at the end of the day if they have money to make them happy what is your problem but why compare the worse with the best. You can find this type of action you describe in all nationalities. I could say that non-Chinese Asians study harder because of the several universities I have work and study in have had a higher percentage of Non-Chinese Asians to Chinese doing higher degrees in the departments I have been in. Also if your down under you know that there is a drive by the government to get overseas Chinese to buy up pieces of land.

I don't think you are being racist. If they were Chinese, then you'd probably likewise devalue them for their behaviour. "If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desiderata
4 :
If you really want to see an example of rampant racism, read what Abe wrote. I don't think he'd be happy unless every white person in the world disappears. (I wonder how he manages to exist living in the U.S. He must go home every night and drink himself into oblivion.)
5 :
You are falling in same way of thinking like popular westerner's way before, when your culture/civilisation/economy reach to a certain good level, you will tend to look down on the other nations from your back. Hear me out, i really think deep down inside, you know so well there are tons of chineses who act in same way in your exemple, but when it comes to your nation pride, you will assure yourself like: "whatever, no nation is perfect, there must be some bad people,it's normal, why whinning?". When it comes to people from other nations, you would feel extremely annoyed like how you show us and refer to term "barbarians". If you were born as a caucasian, im sure you would be a crazy racist person.
6 :
sounds like you envy them... try watching TV 24 hours per day and drinking Cola before bed for healing... and another point about "superior" -- well such people never notice others coz they are focused on themselves so the fact you notice others proves that you are... ;P
