Global Warming Approaching the Critical Limit

Global Warming Approaching the Critical Limit?
The thing just happen this year in Myanmar is that the indication of stronger typhoons and the wild fires are getting more often and the droughts is getting worst, well the only thing that I can say is 'Prepare your self for the worse and expect the unexpected in our daily living. If we will continue global warming to get worst every year expect that whatever your class rich or poor ,we cannot outrun this phenomenon.

Rommel said: "The thing just happen this year in Myanmar is that the indication of stronger typhoons and the wild fires are getting more often and the droughts is getting worst...." One year of typhoon activity isn't an indication of a trend. As the warmers say "weather isn't climate".

What? There are strong typhoons, earthquakes, mudslides, and even blizzards every year. There are flooding rains and volcanic eruptions and tsunamis, and have been since long before humans were ever around. I'm not a denier of global warming, per se, but the 1.5 degrees that the temperature has drastically increased over the last 100 years is not what is causing this right now. This is the natural cycle of the earth. It's very arrogant to think that human beings cause it, or that human beings can fix it.

You can join a doomsday cult if you want, but I think the tradgedy in Burma (or Myanmar if you want to support the military junta) is a result of poor standard of construction resulting from corruption, poverty and lack of resources as well as many of their best engineers being compelled to leave the country to find work.

This question is evidence of a very limited historical perspective, and obviously a government education(read public) as well. An objective review of recent history will show that the 1930's were warmer than the 1990's. As another answer pointed out, there is much archaeological history that shows that we are actually living in a relatively mild climate, compared to centuries past. The man-made global warming proponents rely those in the population that tend to be lead by their heartstrings, as opposed to using reason, and oh yeah actually reading history(beyond the dribble that is taught in government schools today). There is a reason that the "climate change experts"(sic) will only predict catastrophe 50 or years out. Because by then, nobody will remember the ludicrous predictions that were made in 2008. But by then, A.G.W. proponents will have falsely led us down a path that will be hard to recover from. If they have their way, populations will be controlled, productivity will have ceased, and we will all be living in planned communities where all can be easily controlled. There could be no freedom, lest someone emit one ounce more Co2 than the powers that be determine to be correct. And that my friend is the goal of the man-made global warming proponents.......keep the population in a constant state of fear.....and keep that leash tight

yeah, global warming is reaching critical mass. all we have to do to prevent it is live in a home with no electricity, walk to work and stop using the internet, meanwhile Algore is prancing around with a carbon footprint as big as T-rex. How and why can anyone believe this nonsense?
6 :
there have been wildfires, and mudslides in the Los Angeles area since i was a kid in the 70's and I'm going to guess before that too. every year there are typhoons in the pacific, and hurricanes in the Atlantic. every summer there are forest fires in the forests of the western United States. every year there is some place that doesn't get enough rain, and other places that get to much. the really amazing thing is that this has been going on that i know of since i was a kid, and i have read and been told it happened before i was born. it's amazing that the earth just keeps doing it's thing year after year after year.
7 :
Don't listen to the ignorant 'deniers' on here. The climate has reached the "tipping point"! Why do you think that EVERY weather front now packs severe weather with it? The everwidening parameters of weather records is the proof that the climate is rapidly changing.
8 :
Not at all! Global Warming IS NOT Approaching the Critical Limit! There is no such thing as 'stronger typhoons, hurricanes, cyclones, tornadoes, etc.... Learn a little science, and some history, and you will soon realize how everything that is happening today, has happened in the past.(Quite often with more force than today)!!
9 :
Typhoons and wild fires are two separate issues and to link them together is a stretch. We did help the wild fires by not utilizing proper land management. My uncle who managed forest lands warned of this over 35 years ago, when they began to manage the forest differently. The typhoon, is act of nature, climate does contribute to this however natural events like this occur and we really cannot stop it. However we can learn from it and acclimate.

how can i raise awareness about the crisis in Burma

how can i raise awareness about the crisis in Burma?
BURMA CRISIS Background: Since August 19, 2007 there has been a series of peaceful protests across Burma as monks, activists and ordinary citizens challenge misrule and repression. On September 26, the Burmese military government responded with violence. Thousands of protestors have been seized and taken away. Meanwhile, in eastern Burma, a 45-year catastrophe has reached one of its worst moments, as the country’s military junta escalates its attacks against the area’s ethnic minorities. The government’s efforts to assert control over ethnic border areas have emptied over 3,000 villages in a decade, an average of almost one village each day over the past ten years. The forces of Burma’s military junta, the State Peace & Development Council (SPDC), are mortaring villages, looting and burning homes to the ground, and destroying crops in an effort to obliterate the livelihoods of rural communities. Burmese soldiers are ordered to shoot civilians on sight. Act Now to demand change for the people of Burma! Over 500,000 displaced people live in constant insecurity in eastern Burma, and over 30,000 more have been displaced because of this most recent offensive. Those who are captured by the Burmese army face forced labor, conscription, torture, rape and even execution. The rest are unable to return to their homes for fear of stepping on landmines laid after their escape. Instead, the displaced live in makeshift camps in the jungle, enduring some of the worst health conditions in any world crisis today. As this crisis escalates, it threatens to destabilize not only Burma but the region at large. The increasing refugee exodus places a burden on neighboring states, and regional politicians are concerned that epidemics of HIV/AIDS and other diseases will spill over into their own communities. Only broader international consensus and diplomatic pressure will bring an end to these human rights abuses, allow entry of adequate amounts of humanitarian aid, and provide a political solution and a transition to democracy for ethnic minorities and the broader population in Burma. http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/eburma_flier.pdf http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/eburma_flier.pdf http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/eburma_flier.pdf http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/eburma_flier.pdf http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/eburma_flier.pdf http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/ChinaBurmaInfoSheet.pdf http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/ChinaBurmaInfoSheet.pdf http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/ChinaBurmaInfoSheet.pdf http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/ChinaBurmaInfoSheet.pdf http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/ChinaBurmaInfoSheet.pdf http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/not%20a%20game%204.1.pdf http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/not%20a%20game%204.1.pdf http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/not%20a%20game%204.1.pdf http://uscampaignforburma.org/action/not%20a%20game%204.1.pdf Click on bottom link for video http://www.witness.org/qtwindow.html?http://demo.oddcast.com/witness/aotr/3574_Always_on_the_Run_ref.mov http://www.witness.org/index.php?option=com_rightsalert&Itemid=178&task=view&alert_id=42

You can raise awareness of the crisis in Burma through many ways- 1. Continue to learn more about the situation. Read books about it. Wikipedia should have an article about it. Use that as a starting point. The wikipedia Burma article should have links to other sites with more information on it. Look at those sites and that should help you be more informed too. Also, google for activist groups (such as the ones that you put up) that are active (activist groups dedicated towards helping make the situation in Burma better). They should have information on their sites too. 2. Talk to your family and friends about the situation. Persuade them to get involved. If you work, talk to co-workers about it. If you go to school, create a club dedicated towards making the situation better. Also, you can talk to your neihgbors as well. The more people you can get involved the better :) 2a. If you have a blog, write about Burma and inform others about it through your blog. 3. Write to your elected officials. Call their offices and ask them to take action too. Federal, State, and Local officials can be contacted. I know you may wonder "what can state and local officials do?" Well the more that state politicians and local politicians take action (eg. pass resolutions calling for an end to human rights absues), the more awareness is raised and the more likely things will be done on international level. Awareness brings pressure to act. 4. For the activist groups, you can join them and find what actions they are taking. Work with them and help them out with their efforts. Subscribe to their email newsletters, etc. 5. Just do all you can. Each little step helps and goes a long way. You can do it.
2 :
You just did raise it a little. now, look at the bottom of this section, find the "email this" button and send it to a few friends.
3 :
get a tatto on your forehead with all the websites you listed. If you are in a crowd of other enlightened folks such as yourself, you can cover the tatoo with a "save the whales" headband. Oh yeah, and about the only way to stop such indiscriminate violence is with military force. If you were getting mugged in alley, who do you want to see coming, a veteran street cop with a gun or nightstick, or a State Dept diplomat?
4 :
Who cares about Burma? I could care less about the poverty and problems in other countries. America should take care of America first. We have hunger and severe economic problems here. We need to take care of ourself first. Good Bye.
5 :
You just did, Why is this not in the news.. ? Hate to answer a question with a question.. But this needs to be in the news.. Where is Bush?
6 :
Support the mass actions in Burma against human rights violations. Likewise, propaganda must be out against the military suppression in Burma and people must have freedom of expression.

Little significant problems for your wife, except passport by her govt and visa from US (It's rather lenghty). Different matter altogether to settle in Burma about whom I know little specificallly, but this I know: with the single exception of Thailand, few SE Asian countries confer "ipso facto" residence privilege to a foreign spouses. Counterintuitive, frustrating, yes. Nevertheless it's a fact. In my case I can still live in [ blank ] under a non-spousal program, so it's moot. Advice:ring up the particular Embassy and remove the uncertainty.
2 :
You would not want to live in Myanmar with a Burmese (even if you could get permission) because of their totalitarian, repressive and xenophobic regime. The Burmese themselves are absolutely lovely people and deserve better.
3 :
It will be very hard for a foreigner to stay in Myanmar because the local (the family whom you stay with) have to pay a very high tax to the local authorities just because they have a foreigner relative! They may come to ask for 'under table' money since you is a foreigner and suppose a "rich" man! My friend is married with a Myanma man and those above stories are from her. Now she no more in Myanmar...

How to solve this riddle/conundrum?

How to solve this riddle/conundrum??
Please help me figure out the answer to this: There once lived four men in Burma who loved to tell tall tales and impossible stories. One day a well-dressed stranger came to their village. They wanted his fine clothes and thought of a plan to get them. After visiting with him for a while, one of the men said, Since we've all been travelers, why don't we each tell about our most wonderful adventure? But if anyone thinks a story isn't true, he must become the servant of the teller and do whatever he's ordered to do." The traveler agreed, and the four men smiled. They were certain he wouldn't believe their impossible tales and thus be forced to become their servant. The first man told how before he was born, he had climbed a tree too tall for his father to climb to pick some plums for his mother. The men waited for the traveler to say, Impossible," but he only smiled in admiration. The second man told how he'd gotten stuck in the top of a tree when he was only one week old and, when no one would help him, had gone to the village and gotten a ladder so he could climb down from the tree. Again the four men waited for the traveler to say, "impossible," but he only nodded and smiled. The traveler even believed the third man's story about catching a tiger and breaking it in two when he was only one year old, and the fourth man's tale of swimming for three days to the bottom of the sea, where he caught a mountain-size fish with his bare hands. The four men were disappointed that the traveler believed them. Now they could not make him their servant and order him to give them the clothes. One the other hand, all they had to do was say the believed his story no matter how impossible it turned out to be, and they, too, would be safe. "Your turn," they told the traveler. "Tell us your best adventure." He did, and when he had finished, the four men had to give up their clothes despite the fact that they said the believed him. How did this happen? Please answer with a reasonable answer! Thanks.

He told them he was going to take their clothes from them. If they said "Impossible", then he would get to take the clothes. But they believed him, and therefore they had to give him the clothes, so he wouldn't be a liar.
2 :
It specifically said that if anyone "THINKS" a story isn't true, not "say" it. The four travelers "thought" it wasn't true and "said" they believed him.
3 :
TL;DR
