These events do not mean that another one is on its heels. Perhaps nothing will happen for 100 years (exaggerated, though, but still). Earth is dynamic. There is always something going on. Its all about how much media coverage something gets as to how big it seems.

Sing after me : "Lord set my feet on higher ground!" and hope for the best. Also lay in a stock of bottled water and rice alcohol.

precautions can be made such as move to higher hills strengthen the houses/structures save the food/medicines/money of course pray hard to God

Well, another cyclone is on the way right now. Also, earthquakes as large as the one that struck usually have aftershocks that are themselves major earthquakes. The two things happening in a short time period is just coincidence, though.
