wonderful Thailand

wonderful Thailand ?
Do you know that thousands of the hilltribe people living in the border area between Thailand and Myanmar is treatent so badly. They can't get any help to school and medicin and many dies from completely normal diseases because they can't get any medicin because they have no passport. Nobody want them, and they have to stay alone between two countries. We are talking about more than 2 million tribe people along the border. Why is etnic tribes all over the world treatent so bad.?

Yes, I know all about it, but if we do anything to help anyone, then 70% of the planet bïtches that we are insensitive to other cultures blah blah blah, so I guess the rest of the planet can live in its own misery. .

The problem of people who live in borders with neibhouring hostile countries is really pitiable. The countries cannot differenciate between common people and activists fighting for some cause and the treatment meted out to the entire population there is none too good. Improved relations between the neibhouring countries is the only solution. VR

I know many tour agencies which make trips to hilltribes bring along clothes and medicine and even money. The 2 contries Thailand and Myanmar give them bad areas to stay in. I understand why they make and sell opium to survive.

Well, it's not just ethnic tribes. Minorities all over the world are treated just as badly in varying degrees. That's the cruel reality of life isn't it?

Nope. I didn't know that. It sounds terrible. They receive this type of treatment because they either lost a major war in their culture or they didn't stand up for themselves or their families at some crucial time and hoped that if they never made anyone not like them people would get along with them. No wait, that's the Dems plan...

What you say might be true of a few people living in refugee camps, having been kicked out of Burma by the illegal government there. However, it's nothing like two million people. The two million you speak of is the total number of hill tribe people in Thailand. Most of these have a happy life. I speak from probably more first hand knowledge that almost any other westerner, as I lived in one of those hill-tribe villages for six years. In fact my daughter's first language was Lahu. While I am not saying that they are treated like VIPs, most of them now have Thai ID cards, and are officially Thai citizens. I think you unfairly aim your critiscism at Thailand, when it should be aimed at Burma. Burma has a military government which refuses to recognise the results of the last election held there, and keeps the winner of the election, Aung San Sui Ky, under house arrest.
