surely cant we get all the big rich countries like England, America, Japan etc. to get all our weapons together, and threaten Burma to let their people free and do what they want, or perhaps do a treaty of versailles similar thing that we did with Germany near WW2. It seems so unfair to let us just sit back and watch this poor poor country live like this and let their 'government' just get away with it, whilst we live our lives so wonderfully in these richer countries...?! Anyone agree? I know i cant really do much, but it just upsets me, and wanted to see if anyone shared my views! x

We can't possibly assembly all the rich countries and pound away the government of Myanmar or Burma for that matter. First, Myanmar is just a poor country, not much resources these rich countries can buy or make business with. Myanmar is just a poor agricultural country. Probably their rice is just sufficient for their daily consumption and couldn't export their rich harvest to other countries like Vietnam, Thailand or the Philippines. So why does the US or UK have to intervene for the sake of Myanmar even if as you said their people are not free being put to so much sacrifices by their military ruled junta. Gone are the days of the treaty of versailles, or the days of Germany in WW2, Myanmar didn't invade another country, did they? They are prosecuting its own people that is the problem, and this according to international law is a DOMESTIC AFFAIR, no country can or should interfer with another countries internal affair otherwise these can be construed to be intervention of their internal affairs. Can UK tell the US to do this or that? Of course not, that is simply intervention. That is the same story here in Myanmar. The UN for one thing can tell Myanmar about what he is doing to their affairs but has no power to tell them to stop it or threaten its government, this is foreign diplomacy. Yes that is exactly what we should be doing only sit back and watch the horror of this poor country and just let everything get away with it. The US for one thing, couldn't send its US marine forces to invade Myanmar, otherwise, the US might thing everything can be resolve by violence which the UN abhor this kind of method world wide. Only NGO(non-government organization) is the only entity that is sending medical missionary, food, aid for this people. Nothing the other countries can do. Imagine the military has already put themselves since 1962 until now. If the US had done something about Myanmar they could have done it in 1970's already. The problem with the US government, if they will not benefit from one country they do not give a damn about it, esp. a poor country like Myanmar, but if the country has oil probably just a few days they are condemning the government or even send feelers like aircraft carriers within striking range on the country concern. But Myanmar? The US is definitely not interested.
